We exist to help those in mission.
South Korea is sending 25,677 missionaries to 170 nations all over the world. It is by God’s great blessing that Korea has transitioned from being an aid recipient to an aid donor. But there is a severe lack of graduate institutions to equip cross cultural mission specialists. JIU was established to meet the need for “national evangelization and world mission” within the greater plan of God’s mission.
JIU is an interdenominational graduate school of mission. We partner with various denominations, institutions, and organizations for wide-ranging academic dialogue and research. Thus we collaborate with numerous mission organizations, denominations, and research institutes, regardless of their ideological, political, and regional perspectives for the sake of sharing the gospel within the mission of God.
JIU is a graduate school with specialized MA, ThM, and PhD programs providing high quality education. We have the lowest faculty-to-student ratio in the nation, and the capacity to provide student-centered academic service tailored to each student’s academic interests.
Most of the students enrolled in JIU are ministers and missionaries in overseas fields, as well as lay specialists and leaders. Over half of the graduates are now missionaries overseas, and others are faculty of missiology in Korean theological schools, still others are professionals in mission organizations and churches.
Our goal is to provide opportunities for all graduates to serve in the mission fields.
We warmly invite you to JIU. Come let us pray, study, and work together in mission.
Soli Deo Gloria
